I have no pets, no open food containers, and keep my house very clean. For the first time in 28 years I ‘ve found at least 20 ants per day running around the floor. I cannot afford to pay an exterminator. I want to buy a good “anti-ant” product. Please help. Thank you.

I read that if you draw a chalk line where they are coming in, they will not cross it. I am not sure why, but it was one of those natural remedies.

Oh! I wish I remembered what this product is called; you could probably call some place like Lowe’s, or even an exterminator to find out more. It is this white powder that you want to place on the ants that you see – don’t kill them. The ants are suppose to carry this power back to the nest, and it eventually kills them all. My fiancee and I had to live at his parents for a few months in Lewisberry, PA. They had a real bad ant problem, but this was what the exterminator suggested since they couldn’t afford to get an entire house treatment. Sometimes it takes several tries, and the ants just die from the powder before getting to the nest. But within a few weeks, we saw less and less ants. Also place ant traps around any doors or windows as well. You don’t have pets, so you won’t have to be cautious of where they are and what type of poison is in it. You can get these at any grocery store, or like above, Lowe’s or something. Good luck!

I had the same problem until about a week ago.
There’s a product called Ortho Home Defense Max – it’s excellent, spray it around your home’s foundation & along the edge of all of the walls & any cracks in your floor & across door ledges.
It will keep them out pretty much all year.
Works great!

also try cleaning the floorboards of your home. mix hot water and, i used pine sol, and just wash those floorboards, then i sprayed Ortho Ant B Gone around the outline of the house on the floor and then set out some traps. I did that once probably 3-4 yrs ago and I haven’t had any ants, at all, since.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. Pick up a red bottle of Ortho and a spray bottle entitled “Ortho Dial and Spray”. Follow the attached links below (one for product another for sprayer) – this stuff will last for 6 weeks. Essentially, I have the same problem and do not live far from Scranton. The ants where I live like to harbor in the trees (near the base of the trunks) and then make their way to the house. Spray this stuff liberally. The neat thing about this spray bottle is that you DO NOT MIX THE AMOUNT WITH WATER. Just follow the directions, pour in the amount you need, hook it up to your hose, and then SPRAY the little suckers. I spray the perimeter of my house, and lawn. I do this when I know kids will not be playing on the lawn for 24 hours and when I know that it is not going to rain for 48 hours. Hope this helps and good luck!
